The Thermage procedure for the treatment of Cellulite
As with all Thermage procedures, a large return pad is placed on the
body to complete the radio frequency electrical circuit during
treatment.
The areas of cellulite to be treated are marked and a temporary tattoo
is applied to the skin. This tattoo is basically a grid work of
squares, each one being the same size as the Thermage tip.
Once in a comfortable position, contact gel is placed over the skin.
The Thermage tip is then placed on each square in turn, giving a brief
heat sensation followed by immediate cooling. There is constant
dialogue between the client and operator to ensure that the maximum
heat is passed into the area, but without causing pain.
The operator works along the grid using specialist patterns, making
sure that the treatment is performed in the way it most likely to give
a good end result.
The number of pulses needed, the number of tips required and therefore
both the time and cost all depend upon the size of area or areas that
need treatment.
Results of Thermage treatment for Cellulite
Unlike the skin tightening by Thermage, as the cellulite treatment
works at a deeper level, there is less of an immediate result.
Certainly the skin can feel a little tighter and can in some patients
be reddened for a while. In very few patients, they can be an
increased risk of tenderness, and rarely blisters or burns.
However over the first six months after treatment, and increasingly
satisfying result is seen in the majority of patients with smoother
skin, less cellulite and a better contour. Of course to get these
results, it is essential that the client keeps good nutrition,
continues sensible exercise and does not put on extra weight.
Due to the collagen stimulation by the Thermage procedure, provided
the client follows good diet, exercise and maintains a steady weight,
the results are reported to last for up to several years, depending or
course on their natural aging process.
